What do coffee grounds, egg shells and wilted flow What do coffee grounds, egg shells and wilted flowers have in common? They're all compostable! We started participating in our town's curbside composting program two years ago and it's such an easy way to add up small positive changes to make an impact.🌎 Obviously every city and state is different, but here's how easy it is to set-up compost pick-up in Highland Park, IL:

1. Contact Lakeshore Recycling System to get started and enrolled ( 847.665.8811)
2. Buy a small composting bin to keep in your kitchen.
3. Purchase a curbside compost bin which will hold all your compost (when you take out your small kitchen composting bin). Take it out to the curb once a week with your garbage and recycling for pick-up.
4. Repeat and feel good knowing your compost is creating super rich soil that will be used to feed and grow new plants.

It's amazing the range of food scraps and paper items you can compost and won't be sitting in a landfill for years. Here's some that may surprise you:
Tea bags, chicken bones, dirty pizza boxes, used paper napkins and kleenex!

Do you currently compost? If you don't and have questions on how to get started, shoot me a message.

What's your coffee break look like? Here's mine: I What's your coffee break look like? Here's mine: I enjoy a piping hot cup of coffee when the kids are at school (or in the early morning) while reading a few chapters of whatever book I'm reading at the moment. The house is quiet and I have some moments just for me. To make my coffee breaks even more seamless, our Cuisinart Touchscreen 14 Cup Programmable Coffeemaker can start brewing a pot of coffee that's ready for me when I wake up and the coffee stays hot throughout the morning (no need to re-heat in the microwave). When we're not using it, the LCD screen goes to sleep adding to the super sleek modern design. Check out all the details from the link in my bio! What does your ideal coffee moment look like?

Can we talk about dessert hummus?! I whipped up th Can we talk about dessert hummus?! I whipped up this homemade version I've seen at the grocery store and it was a total hit. #ad The best part is that it's plant-based, nut-free (school lunch-friendly!), and can be made with staples in your pantry. Did I mention this chocolate spin on hummus is packed with vitamins and minerals plus dietary fiber, protein and phytonutrients? ❤️ My version includes plant-based @drinkbetterthanmilk Rice Drink + Calcium to give it a nice, creamy consistency with a sweet taste (but with no added sugar). We've experimented with chickpeas in sweet dishes before and this is one you'll want to make all the time!

Here's how to quickly whip it up...
Ingredients
1 can of chickpeas (15.5 ounces, drained and dried)
1/4 cup brown sugar (loosely packed)
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
1-2 Tablespoons tahini or sunflower butter
1/2 cup Better Than Milk Organic Unsweetened Rice Drink + Calcium

Combine first five ingredients into the food processor and pulse until mixed. Add Better Than Milk Organic Unsweetened Rice Drink + Calcium and blend until creamy. Store chocolate hummus in the refrigerator (for a few hours, at least) and serve with your favorite fruit, crackers or toast. 🍽❤️

Eat 🌱 feel beautiful. Couldn’t agree more! Eat 🌱 feel beautiful. Couldn’t agree more!

And I could definitely go for one of the signature @spiritelephantrestaurant margaritas (swipe right to see what I mean) on this gorgeous ☀️ day. Can’t wait to get back to this vegan restaurant and bar...North Shore friends, who’ll join me?!
We're a dairy-loving family over here and we adore We're a dairy-loving family over here and we adore good, quality cheese like the small batch "farm to table" cheese from @andrewandeverett . I love that they support family-owed, self-sustaining farms run by 3rd and 4th generation master and artisan cheese makers. Andrew & Everett cheeses are all free of preservatives, artificial colors and flavors, and made from pasture-raise and hormone-free cows milk. Cheese provides protein and is a good source of calcium so we're always enjoying it on its own or added to our favorite recipes like these yummy corn muffins with fresh herbs.
Make sure to keep an eye out for Andrew & Everett cheese selections at your local grocery store! #UdderlyTheBest #CowToTable #PastureRaised #ad
