This is my son’s first year of pre-school and we’re all loving the experience, friendships and community his school has given us. As the oldest child, we learn and figure out how to handle everything as we go (The story of being a parent, right?!). Within the first week of school, it came as a shock to me when there was a lice outbreak in class. C’mon! I had just figured out the whole drop-off protocol and the latest time we could possibly leave the house and still make it on time, but a critter situation? I wasn’t quite ready to add this one to the list.
Frantic online research ensued along with some candid mom chit chat. I discovered tea tree oil may help prevent (as well as get rid of) lice. Initial research showed promising results which was good enough for me. We initially used concentrated tea tree oil (which is very potent smelling) on Teddy’s hair before and after school. Luckily, the lice infestation ended as quickly as it started.
In that time, we discovered the perfect prevention technique to help our home stay bug-free during the rest of the school year. SoCozy, a company which makes salon-quality line of kids’ hair care products without harsh chemicals or synthetic colors, has Boo! Lice Scaring Shampoo, Conditioner and Leave-In Conditioning Spray.
I love that the Boo! product line is made with tee tree oil along with other natural ingredients to help deter lice like peppermint, rosemary and lavender.
SoCozy recommends three easy steps to help keep lice away. 1) Start with Boo! Shampoo to cleanse, 2)Apply Boo! Conditioner to help nourish and hydrate…
..and 3) Spritz Boo! Lice Scaring Spray on wet or dry hair for a leave-in conditioning treatment. We also give a liberal spray to our backpack and coat before we head out the door for school. As you can see, the spray is a tear-free step (and what kid doesn’t like a spray bottle?!)
The Boo! hair care line smells fresh, leaves the kids’ hair clean and conditioned, and has helped keep lice away. This deserves an A+ in my book!
It’s available at one of our favorite stores, Target (Get it Here: Spray, Shampoo, Conditioner), so it’s an easy add-on item when we shop online or stop in at our neighborhood store.
Have you tried SoCozy hair care products with your kids? If so, which line is your favorite?
XO,
Emily
