Confession, this is not exactly how I look when I rise and shine in the wee hours of the morning which is about 5:50 these days in an attempt to grab ten solo minutes before my little ones wake up. I’m usually unsuccessful because Sloane seems to have an internal tracking system on me.
So I’m rolling with it these days, embracing the
bed head, uncombed beach wave and textured tresses and minimal makeup look.
Since my mornings include a baby on one hip and a toddler on the other leg, I’ve figured out that nighttime is key to help set me up for a quick get-up-and-go look where I feel presentable and (somewhat) pulled together. I think I’m pulling it off, but maybe everybody is too kind to tell me otherwise?!
Here are my five quick beauty prep steps at bedtime that help give my skin and hair some lovin’ and can save you a bit of precious time in the a.m.
Do the ‘Do. I typically shower at night and I only wash my hair about three times a week. Before bed, I spray my roots with dry shampoo (Clairol Hair Food Sulfate-Free Kiwi Dry Shampoo) to help add texture and soak up any oil overnight. Works like a charm. I usually add a little in the morning for a quick re-fresh.
FaceTime. Afer removing any makeup, these are my four quick skin nourishing treatments:
- Nourish Antioxidant Facial Serum from Trader Joe’s. This is the ultimate grocery store beauty find! It’s packed with Vitamin C, smells like citrus, and leaves your skin feeling soft and velvety. It’s kind of like a cashmere wrap for your skin. They sell it on Amazon, but your best bet is to stock up on your next TJ’s run.
- Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream. Extremely hydrating and rich feeling, but absorbs quickly and with no greasy feel. Smells like heaven.
- Pur-lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum. A tiny little dab does the trick for under and around both eyes to help minimize creases and help to brighten your skin. I use this in the morning, too.
- Rodan + Fields Lip Micro-Dermabrasion + Lip Shield. I use the Micro-Dermabrasion stick to exfoliate my lips and then add a moisturizing layer from the lip cream. This treatment is the best and a major lifesaver in the colder months. (The R+F micro-derm lip stick isn’t currently available, but here’s a popular and highly rated option from Ulta – Tarte Lip Exfoliant ).
And with that, we’re ready for our day, which for the record NEVER consists of me lounging on our made bed by myself. Andrew snapped this on a random weekend morning while both babes were napping. It’s a one-in-a-million shot. 🙂
I always LOVE hearing about my friends’ beauty musts and tips to help them feel and look their best. What are yours??
